Katey Montague urges Canadian Firearms Owners to Take ActionBy Christopher di Armani |

“The only way we will get our politicians to do what we want is to tell them what that is”, said the young woman in a recent interview. “Politicians work for us. We pay their salaries, NOT the party leader. So let's make sure that our employees know we want this bill passed.” Katey first came to light when she filmed her first video, Katey's Firearms Facts, when she was just thirteen years old. It became an instant internet sensation, helping to raise thousands of dollars for her father's constitutional challenge of Canada's Firearms Act. Most of her videos expose the folly of gun registration in one form or another. Some show how the Firearms Act has been used to bludgeon lawful gun owners into submission, while others show how useless it is at saving the lives of Canada's police officers, such as the four killed in Meyerthorpe, Alberta on March 3, 2005. Since that first video, the “gun-toting Youtube starlet”, as one writer called her, has produced over 50 videos, the majority of which are already released on her youtube channel. “I'm keeping a few in reserve for the launch of my new website, KateysFirearmsFacts.com, which we should have up and running by August.” The purpose of her website? “That's simple”, Katey says. “I want to find people who want to take action, and give them the tools for becoming effective politically. My site won't be for everyone. But if you want make a positive change in Canada's gun laws, if you want to defend all of our God-given rights, I'll welcome you with open arms and do everything I can to ensure we make that happen.” While Katey's site is being fully developed she's posting what she calls Action Alerts at kateysfirearmsfacts.com. Currently there are two: The first deals with Bill C-391 and how to help get it passed. You can view it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-w8SYHjz2U The second deals with police brutality in Toronto, specifically the case of 18-year-old Junior Alexander Manon, who was apparently beaten to death by members of the Toronto City Police. “I was absolutely horrified when I read of this young man's death. That seven trained police constables can kill a young man and then hide behind their badges is disgusting. I urge everyone to watch my video on the death of Junior Manon, and then take action to see that the constables involved are brought to justice.” You can view Katey's video on the Junior Manon case at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgD2WIV0Z40
